Roll back the years as US punk veterans The Offspring hobble into the Brixton Academy in the European leg of their worldwide The Sh*t is Fucked UpTour. Founded when frontman Dexter Holland and bassist Greg K met on their school cross-country team, The Offspring have come a long way since enlisting the services of guitarist Noodles, the school janitor, on the grounds that he could buy them alcohol. The band's original drummer may have quit to become a gynaecologist but the band hit it big with 1994's Smash and, alongside Green Day and Rancid, the Californian quartet were largely responsible for reviving mainstream interest in punk rock during the 90s. With 32 million album sales to their name, the boys are still going strong so expect high-jinx and sing-along choruses aplenty from the ageing rockers. With a ninth album in the pipeline, this gig in Brixton may be a chance to hear some new material - and savour old classics such as Self Esteem, I Choose and Pretty Fly (For A White Guy).
