The Rolling Stones: 50On 12th July 1962 the Rolling Stones appeared on stage for the first time at the Marquee Club on Oxford Street, the following year Mick Jagger predicted 'I give the Stones about another two years'. 50 years on, Somerset House will be celebrating an exceptional milestone with a special free photographic exhibition that documents the last half-century. Looking back at their career, it will showcase over seventy prints of unseen and rare material, ranging from reportage photography, live concert and studio session images, and outtakes from every period of the band's history - whether it be understated performances in intimate blues clubs or sell-out stadium tours. Visitors will also get the chance to purchase limited edition prints, copies of the recently published book by the same name and a number of other items.

About Somerset House

Somerset House, once the site of a spectacular Tudor palace, now includes a magnificent 18th century art gallery housing celebrated collections belonging to the Courtauld Institute Gallery, as well as the Embankment Galleries (which replaced the Hermitage Rooms and The Gilbert Collection - the latter re-opened at the Victoria and Albert Museum in June 2009).
