The Sound of MusicRunner-up on BBC1's The Voice Lucy O'Byrne, who was working as an usher at the Apollo Theatre for 'Wicked' before she found fame, and who recently performed at the BBC Proms, plays Maria in this spectacular five-star production of The Sound of Music. Star of stage and screen Andrew Lancel (best known as super-villain Frank Foster in Coronation Street) joins the company as Captain Von Trapp in this wonderfully lavish staging of the classic musical produced by Bill Kenwright, directed by Martin Connor and choreographed by Olivier Award winner Bill Deamer. The true story of the world-famous singing family and their escape from Austria is the perfect foil for unforgettable songs like 'Edelweiss', 'My Favorite Things', 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain' and, the title song, 'The Sound of Music'.

About New Wimbledon Theatre

New Wimbledon Theatre opened in 1910 and is housed in a beautiful Grade II listed building. Its opening production was the pantomime 'Jack and Jill' and The Times gave it a glowing review - "For beauty and size Wimbledon Theatre would not disgrace Shaftesbury Avenue".
