The TempestShakespeare's great masterpiece, The Tempest, starts Shakespeare's Globe's 2013 season on 23rd April 2013 with a play which uses Renaissance costumes and music composed by Stephen Warbeck, who won an Academy Award for his score for Shakespeare in Love. With Roger Allam returning to play Prospero, Colin Morgan as Ariel in his Globe debut and Jessie Buckley as Miranda, The Tempest, along with A Midsummer Night's Dream (from 24th May) and Macbeth (from 22nd June) will sit at the heart of the Globe's 2013 season, while three new plays will receive world premieres - 'Gabriel' by Samuel Adamson, 'Blue Stockings' by Jessica Swale, and 'The Lightning Child' by Che Walker. One sure to be a highlight will be 'Indian Tempest' Footsbarn's which runs from 29th July to 3rd August. The French theatre company travelled to Portugal to spend three intensive months creating this new imagining of the Bard's classic as part of the European Capital of Culture 2012 programme.

About Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

This replica of the Shakespeare's 16th century theatre, reconstructed just 200 yards from its original site, is the brainchild of American actor and director Sam Wanamaker.
