The White HorseWalk down The Mall to Spring Gardens and you'll see a life-size White Horse, a marble and resin sculpture by Turner Prize winning artist Mark Wallinger, standing proudly outside the British Council's London headquarters. Though a full-size representation of a thoroughbred racehorse, the sculpture is on a much smaller scale than the final version, intended as the 'Angel of the South' for Ebbsfleet in Kent, which will be 25 times life-size if the project secures sufficient funding to see it completed. In the meantime, and for the next two years, Londoners can see this life-size version just a stone's throw from the equestrian statues of Charles I and George IV on Trafalgar Square, and a short walk from Horse Guards Parade. The Mall, too, is often used as part of the route for official cavalry parades and The White Horse will make a lovely juxtaposition to the real life horses.
