The World Goes PopThrough 160 or so works, brought together at Tate Modern, The World Goes Pop reveals how artists around the world engaged with the spirit of Pop Art. Looking further than the West, the exhibition will also incorporate Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. Works including Austrian Kiki Kogelnik?s anti-war sculpture Bombs in Love 1962, and the subverted commercial logos painted by Boris Bucan in Croatia reveal how Pop Art was never simply a celebration of western consumer culture but was also a subversive international language for criticism and public protest. Other highlights include Judy Chicago's decorated car hoods, Beatriz Gonzalez's painted Colombian dining table, and Ushio Shinohara's 'popped' versions of 19th century Japanese prints.
