A new competitor to the London Marathon and the London 10k is this BUPA-sponsored event, which takes in most of the major landmarks in Westminster and the City - though with none of those dramatic bridge crossings that make such good television. Normal entry is closed, but you can still get your place in the throng (they're aiming for 12,500 runners) by raising money for one of the event's official charities. Ten thousand metres is a fair distance - especially if it's a hot day - but it's a lot easier than a full marathon, and this is a useful way to get yourself in trim ready for summer.
