There's probably an excellent sitcom waiting to be written about the trials and tribulations of life in an Aussie flatshare in London, but this perennial Fringe show, returning to London for the umpteenth time, manages to fit enough good jokes for a six-part series into a tightly-scripted two hour comedy.
The characters initially appear to be Australian cliches - Sheila-hunting boozehounds, a bitchy actress, a charming laidback traveller (Stuart from 'Neighbours') - but as their relationships with each other and the audience develop, they turn out to be intriguing, well-rounded individuals, each of whom gets their own comic setpiece.
Like all the best culture-clash comedies, this manages to laugh at both sides of the divide, finding equal humour from the Australians abroad, and their amazement at the vagaries of British life. It attracts a loud crowd of Antipodeans and Brits, and draws them into the action with great success.
A good-humoured and neatly-characterised look at a familiar world.
