Brooklyn-based musical comedian Reggie Watts heads to the Bloomsbury Theatre for the long anticipated follow-up to his sold-out show in the Soho Theatre last year. It's quite hard to describe what the big-haired Watts gets up to on stage (your best bet is a quick scour on YouTube) but basically he infused spontaneous stand-up material with beat-box musical compositions improvised through a loop machine and pumped out rhythmically on stage. Paunchy, with hair bigger than Sideshow Bob and a beard that makes Osama bin Laden's look like mere bum-fluff, Watts is "one of the hippest experimental performers in comedy" (The Guardian) whose previous show was described as "sublimely silly, and sometimes quite simply sublime" by The Telegraph. But while his zany anecdotes and topical social insights are all very funny, his true strength lies in his musical abilities and extraordinary vocal dexterity, which make Watts truly peerless in his own niche field. This Is Reggie Watts will be an entirely original hour of work based on the performer's upcoming CD/DVD Why $#!+ So Crazy.About Bloomsbury Theatre
Owned and part-funded by University College London, the Bloomsbury was completed in 1968 on the site of a bomb-damaged church. The years have not been kind to this style of architecture and its plate glass and dark brick front now looks drab and un-theatrical. More about Bloomsbury Theatre
