TranscenderThe radical Transcender series returns for the fifth time at the Barbican this autumn with four concerts of hypnotic, psychedelic and transcendental music. Described by The Arts Desk as "one of the UK's most culturally radical and engaging music festivals," this year's series begins with an intriguing brand of Fado music by the Frisian singer Nynke Laverman (4th October, LSO St Luke's). Terry Riley's In C is being reinterpreted by Pantha Du Prince and Matthew Herbert (4th October, Barbican Hall) while the American musician Nicolas Jaar performs cutting edge electronica with backing from psychedelic band the Joshua Light Show in their first ever UK appearance (5th October, Barbican Hall). The series ends with the acclaimed Pakistani singer Faiz Ali Faiz, who collaborates with the acclaimed cantora Carmen Linares on a brand new project alongside his traditional qawwali music ensemble (6th October, Barbican Hall).

About Barbican Centre

Described by the Queen as 'one of the wonders of the modern world' , the Barbican Centre has also been voted 'London's ugliest building'. Ugly or not, this multi-faceted performance and arts venue is truly wondrous. Open 363 days a year, it offers the most diverse program of any London venue. More about Barbican Centre
