Director Renato Rocha leads a group of international young artists in Turfed, a site-specific work which looks at the issue of youth homelessness. Inspired by the double meaning of a football pitch's turf and being turfed out from home, the use of spoken word, choreography and visual theatre infuses the intimate performances.
A 70,000 sq ft centre for creativity and collaboration in East London, Hackney Downs Studios was established in 2011, transforming a redundant printworks into an arts and business hub with three events spaces and 70 serviced studios for creative businesses.
