This is Shakespeare's Twelfth Night but not as you know it. In the hands of Filter theatre company, in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare's much-loved comedy becomes a riotous rehash of a well-loved classic. Lyn Gardner writing in The Guardian went as far as saying, "the company make this oft-revived play seem almost newly minted". Set to "ferocious, fiery and funny" music (The Times), at times it's akin to a rocking gig. In Filter's interpretation - clearly not one for the purists - this well known story of romance, satire and mistaken identity is at its most accessible. If you missed this show when it made its debut at the Tricycle last year best to book in now to see what Michael Billington described as a production which "puts the fun back into Twelfth Night and allows us to become participants in a feast of misrule".About Tricycle Theatre
Located in Kilburn, the Tricycle Theatre specialises in new work with political themes, and are notable as pioneers of verbatim theatre. The theatre was founded in 1980, and rebuilt after a devastating fire in 1987. After a few more expansions, the Tricycle Theatre now has a 230 seat theatre, in addition to smaller theatre/workshop space (the James Baldwin Studio), a workshop room (the Creative Space), and a cinema.
