Bono and friends take time out from saving the world to play two back-to-back U2 gigs at Wembley Stadium. With near-contemporary Bruce Springsteen wowing Glastonbury earlier in the summer, and the ever-present spectre of Coldplay hovering above their "best band in the world" tag, U2 are back on the road with their huge 40+ show worldwide 360° Tour. Still promoting their No Line on the Horizon album - ("bold, beautiful, breathtaking" - The Telegraph) - the Irish quartet will take this opportunity to reassert their superstar credentials and remind the world just what they've been missing. The truth is, U2 are so huge there will never be an end to their commercial success, and while latest work does show them "keen to push beyond their comfort zone" (The Guardian) the Moroccan-recorded album does remain "confused and confusing" despite being "entirely fresh and new" (The Observer). Still, there's no debating that U2 put on a tremendous live show so this should be something to savour if you're lucky enough to get tickets. Support on the first night comes from Mercury Prize winners Elbow before Glasvegas take over a day later.
