Umberto Boccioni: Recreating the Lost SculpturesThe Estorick Collection provides the chance to witness the extraordinary sculptural talent of Futurist artist Umberto Boccioni in its new exhibition, Recreating the Lost Sculptures. Through the use of cutting-edge 3D printing materials and vintage photographic material, digital artists Matt Smith and Anders Rdn have recreated four of the artist's ground-breaking sculptures, the originals of which were deliberately destroyed by sculptor Piero da Verona back in 1927. A volumetric study of a human face titled Empty and Full Abstracts of a Head along with three of the artist?s iconic striding figures have all been recreated, providing the chance for modern audiences to 'see' the lost masterpieces for the very first time.

About Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art

You'll find a spectacular collection of paintings and sculpture by 20th century Italian artists at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, with a core of Futurist works by Balla, Boccioni, Carra, Russolo and Severini. The collection, housed here since 1994, also includes figurative art created between 1890 and 1950 by artists such as Modigliani, Marino Marini, Giorgio Morandi and Giorgio de Chirico.
