As part of the London 2012 Festival, Unlimited is a series of events at the Southbank Centre that celebrate disability, arts, culture and sport. Coinciding with the 2012 Paralympics, Unlimited will see a number of disabled and deaf artists working alongside able bodied artists to push the boundaries and reach previously unattained goals. With 29 impressive and ambitious shows the series will cover dance, live arts, visual arts, music and theatre. Performances include The Ugly Spirit - a behind the scenes look at what it's like to be a Siamese twin; The Garden - a gravity-defying piece by Hoxton based theatre company Graeae and Australia's Strange Fruit; and Stumble danceCircus: Box of Frogs - an exploration of seven circus performers struggling with the conception of mental illness and the differentiation between colourful character and delusional insanity. Anyone can partake in free workshops given by pioneers in the field like the Candoco dance company, and there are further free events including a film screening in the Royal Festival Hall's Clore Ballroom. For the complete programme visit the Southbank Centre's official website.
About Southbank Centre
London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
