War GamesWhy do children play war games? The V & A Museum of Childhood explores this often controversial question in War Games, an exhibition of strategy games, toy weapons and miniature soldiers dating back to the 1920s. Aimed at adults and children, War Games explores the role of warfare in children's play from 1800 to the present day. The exhibition invites visitors to investigate how toys recreate and represent war and questions the role of war toys as tools of propaganda - through games like the 1914 British puzzle 'Get Rid of the Huns'.

The Museum of Childhood houses the UK's largest collection of toys including dolls, dolls' houses, puppets, games, and toys. Collections showcase all aspects of childhood, from games throughout the ages to a historical look at cots, prams and feeding bottles (including a 19th century ceramic bottle).
