Well timed to tie in with St George's Day, this exhibition at the SW1 Gallery features the winning photographs from the 'We Are England' photography competition run by Commonwealth Games England. The brief for the competition, open to all, was to find the photographs that best represent England and celebrate everything about England and 'Englishness'. Photographs entered varied from a literal translation - like pictures of historic English landmarks or English sporting event - to a more personal response whether that means a plate of fish and chips, a countryside scene or the deer in Richmond Park. You can see all of the shortlisted entries at this free exhibition and entry details at www.weareengland.org.About SW1 Gallery
The SW1 Gallery in Victoria's Cardinal Place shopping centre provides a welcome break for shoppers and something cultural to do in your lunch hour for people who work in the area. The exhibitions frequently change, and cover a whole range of styles from an exhibition by students with special education needs in the City of Westminster area to James Hawkins' 'Chronicles of the Straight Line Ramblers Club', his first major exhibition in London for six years.
