Women of the World FestivalThe Women of the World Festival (WOW) returns to the Southbank Centre for its fourth year this March, coinciding with International Women's Day on Saturday 8th March. Originally launched by Jude Kelly, Southbank Centre's Artistic Director, following the criticisms she received as a woman new to the role, it celebrates "the formidable power of women to make change happen". Spread across five days, WOW incorporates live music, films, comedy, theatre and poetry alongside debates, talks, networking, mentoring and workshops. This year's programme includes Malala Yousafzai, the schoolgirl shot for defending the right of girls to be educated, comedian Ruby Wax, PR guru Lynne Franks, and musician Ronnie Spector who chronicles her 50-year journey through rock and roll.

About Southbank Centre

London's hub of cultural arts, The Southbank Centre announced in March 2013 that it's set for a £100 million revamp that will see the 1960s design finally move into the 21st century with a proposal that includes a floating glass pavilion, two more roof gardens, a space for riverside arts and a large pedestrian area.
