WonderlandMarking the thirtieth anniversary of the miners' strike, Beth Steel's 1984-set drama revisits the great battle of the miners as two young lads from the Midlands learn what it is to be a miner. Meanwhile, in London, a Tory MP, an American businessman and a maverick form the face of the radicalism within the Tory government, and prepare to take on the miners' workforce. Wonderland, an epic drama based on the battle of the miners, is directed by Hampstead Theatre's artistic director Edward Hall, son of Royal Shakespeare Company founder and former National Theatre director Sir Peter Hall, who has turned the north London theatre around since he took over in January 2010.

About Hampstead Theatre

The Hampstead Theatre has existed in various forms since 1959, when it opened in a Scout Hall and its opening season in 1959 included two new plays by Harold Pinter, The Room and The Dumb Waiter. In 1962 the company moved to a portacabin in Swiss Cottage where it remained for nearly 40 years. More about Hampstead Theatre
