Kick start your week with a lively burst of culture at Kings Place, with their series of lively Monday night discussions, lectures and readings from authors, journalists, politicians and other scholastically blessed types. This North London arts venue has been a great outlet for live music, spoken word and creative thinking since opening its doors in 2008. The complex is also home to both the Guardian and Observer newspapers, a number of galleries and two modern eateries. Their delightful Monday evening offerings are held in an oak lined 420 seat auditorium and cover a diverse range of subjects. First on the agenda in 2012 is Alain de Botton's Religion for Atheists, closely followed by an evening celebrating the poetry of Bob Dylan, featuring friends of the musician and acoustic performances. Word on Monday have been organised in conjunction with amongst others, The Guardian, Oxfam, Foyles and Poet in the City and are a great opportunity to expand your mind. If all that brain activity wears you out, why not retire to the water front bar for a little reflective pondering. Surely the perfect way to beat those Monday blues. Check the website for the full lineup and ticketing details.

About Kings Place

Just 150 metres from King's Cross and St Pancras stations and with a waterside setting, the Dixon-Jones designed Kings Place combines the offices of The Guardian newspaper with a concert hall and two art galleries. As you'd expect from the architects behind the recent improvements to the Royal Opera House and National Portrait Gallery it's a well designed complex of curvaceous surfaces and appealing public spaces.
