Nearby Yes, Prime Minister

The classic British sitcom Yes, Prime Minister comes to the West End stage in September after making ripples at the Chichester Festival this spring. The play is to take up residency at the Gielgud Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue from 17 September with original cast members Henry Goodman and David Haig (Bernard in Four Weddings and a Funeral) reprising their roles. Updated for the BlackBerry era, this stage version of Yes, Prime Minister has been written by the show's original creators, Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, to mark the 30th anniversary of the BAFTA award winning comedy. The plot focuses on the hapless political partnership of Prime Minister Jim Hacker and his nemisis Cabinet Secretary Sir Humphrey Appleby who, while facing a country in financial meltdown, come to the decision that the only chance of salvation comes from morally dubious allies, leading to deliciously comic consequences. Yes, Prime Minister is directed by Lynn, who has also had a successful career as a director with film comedies such as The Whole Nine Yards and My Cousin Vinny. About Gielgud Theatre
From the outside, the Gielgud Theatre is an impressive sight, towering four storeys over Shaftesbury Avenue, its height further emphasized by the turret on top. The interior is also magnificent, with richly-decorated pillars supporting the boxes and lavish Baroque ornamentation. Built in 1906 and known as the Globe Theatre for most of the 20th century, it was renamed after the great actor Sir John Gielgud in 1994. More about Gielgud Theatre
