Bob Dring and his brother ran this local butchers for 42 years and though they have since retired the picture on the wall behind the cash register still shows Bob on his beloved bicycle. Now Drings is run by the cheese shop next door but the family name remains as do their high standards. Combine a trip here with a stop off at The Cheeseboard next door and you can believe you're in a pretty countryside village. It's a far more neighbourly way to shop than the usual bulk buy at the supermarket. It's this friendly, personalised service - coupled with the excellent free range and organic poultry, pork etc - that makes it popular with the banking residents of Greenwich who are happy to queue out the door on weekends.
