The Ritz of bookshops - this is where the royal biographies feel at home and it’s conveniently situated next door to Fortnum & Mason, coincidentally not far from the Ritz. This grand old shop has a particularly fine hardback offer, notably so in travel, history, biographies and, since A.R. Mowbray joined it in 2006, religion. Regular book signings tend to favour politicos, biographers and Booker Prize winners, Douglas Hurd and Charles Spencer among them, but also plays host to popular fiction authors and personalities including Donna Tart, Joanna Trollope and Catherine Deneuve. Its Authors of the Year parties are loved by authors who relish the chance to meet with fellow writers. This close connection with a long list of eminent authors means they have a constant and extensive range of signed copies available.
