Built in 1891-94 by Charles Harrison Townsend, the institute's facade has a theme of arts and crafts. Inside you will find 19th century tiling, a Great Hall, board room and a restored public reference library. Events include music concerts and a wide variety of educational and leisure pursuits, topical debates and literary evenings. These take place in the grade II* listed library and Great Hall. Halls and rooms are available for private hire.
