The first Buddhist temple in the United Kingdom lies hidden away on a residential street on the edge of Wimbledon Park. Transferred here in 1976 from its original home in Richmond, the centre is primarily a centre for the dissemination of theoretical and practical Buddhist teachings but respectful visitors are welcomed to explore its colourful temple and grounds. The Temple consists of a house where the monks live and a cottage. An ornamental lake, a small grove, flower garden and an orchard decorate the four-acre grounds.
