Central Park is a large (50 acre), flat, recreation ground which, every July, hosts the annual Dagenham Town Show.
There are a huge number of year-round sports and leisure facilities including; 12 football pitches, four hard tennis courts, a pitch and putt and a bowling green, a basketball court, and cricket and changing facilities.
There's also a dog-free children's playground with a distinctive hexagonal swing.
It may not be New York but it's a park to be proud of.
