A rich hunting ground for restaurants and bars, Exmouth Market twinkles under the fairy lights that zig-zag overhead across the scenic pedestrianised street. Hip hang outs like Cafe Kick (for table football and beers) and Spanish restaurant Moro help to put this place on the map. But the area really got going back in the nineties at a time when the Eagle down the road was making waves as a something called a 'gastro pub' (whatever that is, we thought). Almost overnight, Exmouth Market went from a seedy backstreet to shopping destination. The market part was restored in 2006 (reviving a tradition started in the 1890s), helping to make this a thriving bustle of shops, cafes, restaurants and outdoor drinking, all overlooked by the Exmouth Arms from which the place gets its name.
