Ranger's House is an 18th century, Grade I listed, red brick villa built in 1723 which became the official residence of the 'Ranger of Greenwich Park'. Behind its walls lives the Wernher Collection - a stunning collection of medieval and Renaissance works of art, all purchased by the diamond magnate and philanthropist Sir Julius Wernher (1850-1912). Nearly 700 works of art are on display here. Among them are rare, early religious paintings and Dutch old masters, minutely carved and painted Gothic ivories, some finely wrought bronzes and silver treasures. A visit to this amazing collection reveals the virtuosity of the medieval craftsman and the unparalleled quality of Renaissance decorative arts.
