Restored in the 17th century, this ancient bath in the heart of London, close to Somerset House, is believed to have Roman origins - though this is still under dispute. Visits can be arranged with Westminster County Council, telephone 020 7641 5264 (phone during office hours) giving 24 hours notice. The bath is also visible through a window from the pathway all year round from 9am to dusk. Just west of Aldwych station (now closed), the approach is via Surrey Street.Roman Bath images
