John Ruskin, the famous artist, writer and social campaigner, is the person after whom Ruskin Park is named. Ruskin lived near to the park which is located between Camberwell, Brixton and Herne Hill in South London, between 1823 and 1871 and the park was officially opened to the public on 2 February 1907. Facilities within the 36 acres of parkland include tennis and games courts, a children's play area, paddling pool and one o'clock club for children under five, a pond, formal gardens and a charming historic wooden bandstand.
