Adding to the concentration of creative outlets on Vyner Street in East London is LimeWharf, a futures gallery and artistic laboratory which puts the emphasis on interactive exhibitions which engage local communities. The gallery on Regent's Canal describes itself as "part innovative cultural centre, part collaborative production house". Founded by social entrepreneur Thomas Ermacora, the gallery brings together creative and scientific fields to explore the future, 'the art of tomorrow'. Experimental projects which aim to engage their audience focus on topics like DIY ethics, sustainable practises and cutting edge technologies. Thomas is joined by director and curator Joana Seguro who has previously worked on projects for the Wellcome Trust and the Royal Opera House. A pop-up kitchen at the gallery's spring 2013 launch combines food by Modern Pantry's Anna Hansen with lively debate and special performances while guests are seated at a giant sculptural table.
