The Royal Academy of Arts exapanded into 6 Burlington Gardens in October 2012, creating more exhibition space and improved facilities for its contemporary art displays. At the same time as the gallery opened, with RA Now - an exhibition of works by current Royal Academicians - Pace London opened next door, in the west wing of Burlington Gardens. The opening of 6 Burlington Gardens is the first phase of a wider five year project, the completion of which will link Burlington Gardens with Burlington House to create a two and a half acre Royal Academy site, scheduled for completion in time for the 250th anniversary of the Royal Academy in 2018.
