Beneath the railway which runs along Hungerford Bridge in the Victorian arches at the Festival Square behind the Royal Festival Hall is large gallery dedicated to the works of Polish artist Feliks Topolski. The Topolski Century gallery is an eyewitness record of the twentieth century, as seen by Feliks who worked in a studio in a neighbouring arch below the Festival Hall administration building at the time of the Festival of Britain. The warehouse style gallery houses his monumental on panels and paintings which depict the iconic historic figures and events Topolski chronicled over a period of ninety years, until the artist's death in 1989. The collection is divided into themes including pre-war Europe and post-independence India. Appointed as an official war artist in 1940, he documented wartime Europe and travelled to nearly every major battle front on three continents. Feliks Topolski's daughter, Teresa Topolski, is available as your guide to exhibition, offering a personal insight to the work. Private tours last one and a half hours and can be booked by calling 07882 843141. The Topolski Century venue is also available for private functions.

NOTE: Topolski Century is temporarily closed to general visitors but continues to run private tours by appointment, education visits and art classes.
