"I don't care to belong to any club that would accept me as a member".
So mused Groucho Marx and it was these well-chosen words that a group of literati recalled when in 1984, parched and weary, they roamed the streets of Soho looking for a suitable watering hole.
Thus the concept of The Groucho Club was born. Successful entrepeneur Tony Mackintosh backed the proposition and discovered the sprawling Dean St location that now hosts the infamous Groucho Club.
This private members club plays host to sober, clean-living respectable media types during the day and a deliciously decadent celebrity clientele at night.
