Set in the heart of Bayswater and only 50 metres from Hyde Park, the Mitre is a beautiful Grade II listed pub popular with regulars and tourists alike. Believed to have been here since the 1850s, it still retains some historical features including mosaic flooring, sky lights and open fire places as well as a 'Ladies Only' sign etched into the glass which dates back to the mid 19th Century - a time when respectable women would not have normally gone to pubs. There have also been reports by staff members that the ghost of a murdered coach driver still frequents the premises. The dining room on the first floor has been renovated more recently and is available for private hire, weddings and parties. The pub has several other claims to fame - it has starred in Woody Allen's Match Point and the BBC drama The Edwardians.Opening and closing times for The Mitre
