It may sound like one of those nutritional energy snacks but Power's Bar is in fact an intimate live music venue on Kilburn High Road. Formerly The Cole Pitz pub and, more recently, Power's Acoustic Room, this atmospheric drinking den offers a slightly limited range of draught drinks (Kronenberg, St Miguel, Guinness and Bulmers) but at bargain basement prices (you'll get change from ?3). A recent refurb has replaced the classic front with something a rather garish shade of lavender, but the interior still boasts the original fixtures and fittings of a Victorian public house. The gig list at Power's is pretty eclectic with a weekly acoustic night, a covers programme on Monday, DJs on Fridays, the best in signed and unsigned indie and rock bands on Saturdays and some traditional Irish music on Sundays. All the gigs are free so long as you manage to get past the rather disgruntled doormen.Power's Bar events
