Right across the street from the Houses of Parliament, the Red Lion is perfectly positioned for politicos to pop in for a pint after a heated debate. Equally, it appeals to tourists taking in the sights of Westminster and Big Ben and, at around 100 metres from Downing Street, it's also the Prime Minister's local. But despite its furiously busy location - between the Cenotaph and Big Ben - the Red Lion manages to retain all the trappings of a traditional pub including wood-panelled walls, stained glass windows and strong ales. On a hot summer's day you can take your drink outside - into the back garden or the front of the pub. 'A Great British Tradition' is the wording around the pub's walls and it certainly lives up to that motto.
