Perhaps not the most scenic of beer gardens, the area round the back of Brook Green's The Queen's Head certainly pulls in a roaring trade. Its selling point is clear: there's enough space and enough tables to ensure most people are happy. In fact, the garden - which is surrounded by tall pine trees - is so large that it seems quite a trek at times to head back into the bar in search of refreshments. And once you get there, service can be rather slow. But it's a nice neck of the woods here. Opposite a playground and tennis courts on the pretty green, The Queen's Head is welcoming, spacious and unpretentious. The food is fine and not too expensive while at the bar there's a wide range of beer, wine and ales. Opening and closing times for The Queen's Head
