The Francis Crick InstituteThe Francis Crick Institute, a centre of biomedical research and innovation, is what happens when six of the UK's most successful scientific and academic organisations come together. Combining the talents of the Medical Research Council, Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust, University College London, Imperial College London and King's College London, the Crick is a centre for training scientists and developing ideas for public good. Science is at the heart of the massive 92,000 square metre institute, housed in a brand new research facility next to King's Cross and St Pancras stations from late 2016. The building has more than 120 laboratories where a core staff of 1,250 work together on science programmes, tackling the most challenging scientific questions concerning health and disease. VISITOR CENTRE: Members of the public can find out more about the institute, see models of the building and talk to staff at the Visitor Centre on the ground floor of the Living Centre, the community space on the Ossulston Street side of the site (behind the British Library). NOTE: there is no access to the rest of the institute whilst it is under construction. Visitor Centre opening hours are Thursdays 2pm to 6.30pm.
