One of London's most attractive stations, up until September 2006, Marylebone was also the smallest. At that time, the addition of two platforms upped the number from four to six. Mostly a commuter station, there's a civilised feel to the airy concourse, which thankfully escaped closure in the 1980s. It's also the cheapest major station in London for filming, so not surprisingly filmmakers love it. Several scenes of The Beatles' A Hard Day's Night were filmed at the station; "...the train took off and we were in a film," Paul recalled. George went on to marry one of the schoolgirls who features in the movie, Pattie Boyd. When doing its day job, more than 30,000 people pass through the station each day, easing traffic along the M40 corridor as well as to Stratford-upon-Avon.Marylebone Railway Station images
