Hotel Rafayel

Located in Battersea with views of the River Thames and close to the London Heliport, the 65-room Hotel Rafayel is a luxury hotel with green credentials. Opened in December 2009, the hotel proves that eco friendly design can be stylish and functional too. Rainwater collected from the roof is recycled, guests are offered electronic rather than paper newspapers, and toiletries come in big glass bottles, rather than plastic miniatures. It's also the first in the UK to use only LED lights instead of traditional light bulbs and fluorescent lights, a saving of 400,000kg of carbon emissions per year. Both the bedrooms and bathrooms are big and flooded with natural light and the views are pretty fabulous too. Rooms are categorised under the names of rivers - Mississippi and Yangtze rooms, Amazon and Nile suites. In addition, there's a conference room with floor-to-ceiling windows, a WellWorld Spa, a 17th floor roof terrace with 360 degree views of the capital, and a riverside Champagne bar and restaurant with its own roof terrace for alfresco dining.
