Peek Frean & Co made biscuits here in Bermondsey for 123 years, from 1866 until 1989 when the factory closed. Home to baked goods like the Bourbon and the Garibaldi, The Biscuit Factory was also where the Twiglet was born. The first mass producer of biscuits, they also made the 6ft wedding cake for Queen Elizabeth II's wedding. Now the former factory - which led to the area being known as Biscuit Town - is used as an exhibition space. But if you want to know more about the biscuit factory, the Pumphouse Educational Museum in Rotherhithe has a permanent exhibition about Peek Frean & Co.The Biscuit Factory images
