The Grey Horse, a mere 200 yard walk from Kingston Train Station, is the oldest of the four Youngs pubs in Kingston and offers a whole raft of entertainment from live music to films, jazz to jokes. Built in 1849, it was originally owned by George Nightingale, brewer at the local Nightingale Steam Brewery and Mayor of Kingston in 1846. The brewery is long gone but the pub has revived a tradition begun in the 1950s when it became known as a jazz venue. Now you can enjoy all genres of music from jazz/funk to blues and rock. As well as the pub there's The Ram Jam Club, opened in 2004, aimed at 'grown ups' wanting something different in the Kingston area. It's where you'll find the film club and it's also home to the Crack Comedy Club every Friday and Saturday. MC'd by Erich McElroy, the Crack comes highly recommended - it has certainly passed the test of time and, having been around for a decade or so, is Kingston's longest running comedy club. Many well known names have appeared at The Crack including Michael McIntyre, Dara O'Briain, Rhod Gilbert, Omid Djalili, Stephen Merchant, Alexander Armstrong, and Lee Mack.
