Like its successful sister restaurant in Notting Hill E & O, XO (what is it with those intials?) serves pan-Asian food to a trendy crowd and, if you want to eat at home, you can take away from XO To Go next door. Aussie owner Will Ricker seems to have a way with restaurants. As well as E & O he has a handful of hip eateries dotted around town from Cicada and the Great Eastern Dining Room in the east to Eight Over Eight in west London. While none share any common characteristics (nothing that would lead you to describe them as a 'chain'), all have a signature slick style and specialise in excellent quality dim sum, best consumed with a cool cocktail. At XO Chinese dishes like chilli salt squid co-exist with Thai offerings, chicken curries and crab tempura; specials of grandma's tofu and steamed seabass in black bean sauce create Asian dishes that appeal to the dressed-up (largely Western) diners.
