Australian-born chef Cameron Emirali, previously in the kitchen of the Wapping Project, and Luke Wilson, the duo behind 10 Greek Street, have gone to a second venture with 8 Hoxton Square, a 50-60 cover restaurant in east London. Loved by the critics - Marina O'Loughlin described 10 Greek Street as part of "a culinary revolution in Soho" - this friendly neighbourhood restaurant serving a daily changing menu made with seasonal ingredients is sure to become a popular place to eat. Starters of cauliflower soup and truffle oil can be followed by mains like whole grilled sea bream, and poussin served with white beans, bacon and spinach. Apple and raisin turnover, pear tart and almond praline ice cream, and chestnut honey semifreddo with blood orange and pistachio give diners something sweet to finish with. Take a seat at the bar, in the courtyard garden, or at the kitchen table which seats eight (bookable Monday to Sunday). When asked why Hoxton Square? Luke replied, "it's full of great, like-minded places: The Clove Club, Sager + Wilde, Merchant's Tavern and Happiness Forgets which is right next door so we hope we will fit in well." They certainly do.
