Mayfair restaurant Babbo - meaning 'Daddy' in Italian - is a where you get a taste of traditional Italian cuisine in a chic setting. Italian delicacies such as beef carpaccio, snapper ravioli, and Milanese style rib-eye steak feature on the extensive menu. But the most closely guarded secret is what goes into the lasagne which is made to a 100 year old recipe passed down to head chef Douglas Santi from his grandmother. Writing in The Telegraph, Zoe Williams described it as "a London restaurant for people in the know rather than poseurs". But we think it's best summed up as traditional Italian cuisine made to rich recipes using the best quality ingredients. International travellers for whom Babbo brings to mind a certain restaurant in New York be advised - there's no relation between the two.
