Bertie and Boo is a cute name for a coffee shop and you may well see some cute customers in here too - the child friendly cafe is especially popular with Balham mums and dads who take their tots here when they need a caffeine fix and a catch up with like minded parents. This does mean that the place can get busy at peak times with an excess of baby buggies. You can of course come here if you don't have little ones - and it's a good independent coffee shop in its own right and has won awards to prove it - just be prepared for hightened noise levels. B & B founders brother and sister Bertie Pearce and Boo Danby also organise children's parties, hosting over 700 a year, using their magic and acting skills to stage teddy bears magic shows, as well as fairy and elf, pirate and princess, and Bertie and Boo parties. While the coffee shop is very family friendly, everyone, young and old, can enjoy the cafe's quirky interior with old school desks and vintage red leather sofas as well as the fresh fruit smoothies, milkshakes and muffins. Their covered patio seating comes into its own in summer when you can settle into a seat under the royal blue awning.
