Run by Paul Hemings and Cara Ceppetelli, who both grew up in North America, Bird in Shoreditch aims to provide Londoners with a new style of fried chicken. Rather than the fast food found at countless chicken shops throughout the capital, Bird offers quality, free range fried chicken that's made with meat sourced from British farms. After touring restaurants throughout Brooklyn, Chicago, Philadelphia and parts of Asia for inspiration, Paul and Cara have created a tempting menu of fried chicken and accompaniments. Diners can choose between white, dark or mixed meat, wings and a selection of glazes. While accompaniments such as mu shu pancakes, Korean cucumber salad and corn pudding with cheese & jalapeno provide ways of making a more unique fried chicken experience. More decadent options include the mammoth fried chicken and waffle burger or their lunchtime burgers and sandwiches: the fried chicken biscuit sandwich, a bacon and cheese chicken burger, and a Korean burger that boasts a gochujang glaze and kimchi slaw. If you have room, there's also freshly made yeast-risen doughnuts, rolled and hand cut each morning.
