Bistro Delicat

Adding to Northcote Village's foodie reputation is Bistro Delicat, a contemporary Austrian bistro dedicated to binding tasty Viennese cuisine together with the ambiance of a European brasserie for Battersea's discerning diners. Delicat is co-owned by Austrian Erik Ammer, who has previous experience in Ritz-Carlton hotels and Formula One catering. The décor is a mixture of New York diner (slick black and white wall tiles) and Pain Quotidien kaffeehaus-style open-plan (think big wooden tables). If your experience of Austrian food is restricted to previous family skiing holidays then Delicat will be a pleasant surprise. Both lunch and dinner menus offer a range of salads, starters, soups, sides, tartines, mains and desserts. Austrian delicacies include classic beef consommé, wiener schnitzel, sauerkraut and Nurnberger sausage. If you just fancy a snack there is a range of croques, quiches and charcuterie platters, while if you fancy something more substantial there's a rib-eye steak on the dinner menu, along with yellow fin tuna and grilled trout. Wines range from ?16 to ?49 a bottle (from ?4 a glass) while beers include Stielgl draught, Schremser Rye beer, Hirtir Privatpils and Budvar. For fans of al fresco dining, there are a few outside tables which prove very popular in the summer months.
