What started as a pop-up Seafood Shack in Hackney in 2011 became a fully fledged, full-time fish restaurant on 2nd October 2012 when the Bonnie Gull Seafood Shack opened on Foley Street, in Fitzrovia. Spurred on by the successes of previous projects (The Bonnie & Wild in Islington and the Bonnie-on-Sky in Devon) head chef, Luke Robinson (Fifteen and Ristorante Citrus, Umbria) and the team have set up a permanent restaurant which offers accessible, affordable, responsibly sourced British produce. The menu changes daily depending on the seasons with dishes like Isle of Lewis mussels with Aspell cider and Cumbrian bacon, or west coast Scottish lobster with shoestring fries and garlic butter typical of what you can expect. Added to this is a selection of fresh, raw fish, oysters (which you can track on their raw bar map) and shellfish, all served with Shack sauce mignonette, cocktail sauce or lemon and parsley. Sea-themed cocktails are all part of the experience: try the Bonnie Mary - infused vodka mixed with home roasted clamato juice and served with a box of sea inspired spices, garnished with fresh oyster or grilled prawn; or the Popeye - gin, kummel, lemon juice, fino sherry and fresh chilli... certain to make you grow up big and strong.
